About me
Al Thomas is a Family Engagement and Early Literacy Education Consultant in the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP). Prior to coming to MiLEAP, Al worked for ten years at MDE as an Education Consultant serving districts in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula and was an elementary and middle school teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal. Al was an original member of the Family Engagement Leadership Team and helped develop MiFamily: Michigan’s Prenatal through Postsecondary Family Engagement Framework. His passion for family engagement has led him to provide training, presentations, and technical assistance for districts and agencies throughout the state.
