Kai Smith, an esteemed Educational Improvement Consultant at Wayne RESA. With over two decades of experience in Detroit Public, charter urban, and University education systems, Kai has established herself as a seasoned professional in the educational field. Her passion for education began at the tender age of four when she started teaching her baby dolls reading, writing, and math. Kai holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a minor in Language Arts from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University. Throughout her career, she has held various roles such as Lead Teacher, Assessment Coordinator, AP, Coach, University Faculty, and Interim Principal. Her unwavering dedication to centering equity has been a driving force behind her success in achieving positive outcomes for schools. Kai prides herself on being an innovative educator always sharing and promoting her love for teaching and transformational instructional practices. Outside of education, Kai is a loving wife and a devoted mother who brings a unique blend of creativity and positive energy to everything she does.
